David Badertscher Honored at the 14th Annual FellowshipLIFE Foundation Gala
David Badertscher, a resident of Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and former resident of Westfield, and publisher of the Criminal Law Library Blog was honored at the 14th Annual FellowshipLIFE Foundation Gala. The event took place at the Heidrich Hotel in New Brunswick, where David was recognized with the following citation:
David Badertscher, Fellowship Village Gala Honoree Citation:
David Badertscher, born in Morrow, Ohio in 1935, has had a distinguished career in education, law librarianship, and community service. He holds a BS degree and two MAs and began his career teaching high school social studies before serving in the U.S. Army. Transitioning to law librarianship, David held roles at the University of Chicago, including Circulation and Special Projects Librarian, where he managed the Karl Llewellyn Papers and monitored technological advancements in libraries. He later worked at Schiff Hardin and Waite and served as Executive Law Librarian at Georgetown University Law Center.
For the final 31 years of his career, David worked as a Principal Law Librarian at the New York State Unified Court System, playing a key role in introducing computer-assisted legal research to trial courts. His professional achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018 and a listing in the 2022 Who’s Who in America.
David remains an active community leader. He serves on the boards of the New Jersey Festival Orchestra, and the FellowshipLIFE Foundation, having previously served on the board of the New York Library Council and as Historian of the Summit Area Old Guard. At Fellowship Village, he contributes to several committees, including Financial Review, Medical, Communications, and Life Enrichment, having previously served on the Marketing Committee. His work with the FellowshipLIFE Foundation involves a fiduciary role overseeing financial matters, particularly through the Finance Review and Disbursements Committees.
In addition to his professional and community endeavors, David continues to write and publish a blog read globally. His dedication to the betterment of Fellowship Village and his community at large reflects his commitment to service and leadership.
